Accredited Program

In 2006, CMHS formally launched its enhanced cancer program. In late 2008, the CMHS Cancer Program underwent initial survey by the American College of Surgeons (ACoS) Commission on Cancer. The Cancer Program met or exceeded the 36 cancer program standards and was awarded a 3 year approval with commendation in 8 of 9 possible areas. ACoS accreditation is significant as it means that the program is meeting or exceeding the highest national standards. The survey reviews research, quality control, outreach, cancer registry, nursing and other areas to ensure the most stringent requirements are continued in order to meet the needs of a wide variety of cancers and patients of all ages. Patients can be assured that through the maze of cancer the Cancer Resource Center is available in their community and will provide the comfort and information they deserve.
