Services

Although the center is staffed from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, a variety of support groups are currently held at the center at different times throughout the day and evening. Listing of support groups and classes are available upon request and at www. cmhshealth.org/community. Services provided at the Cancer Resource Center include:

  • Library
  • Research assistance
  • Internet access and assistance
  • Spanish language brochures
  • Listing of cancer information sources
  • Cancer related publications from the American Cancer Society, CancerCare, and the National Cancer Institute on cancer, cancer treatment, site-specific cancers, and how to deal with treatment side effects, telling your children you have cancer and other cancer related subjects.

Education

  • Lectures on cancer topics by local medical guest speakers
  • Annual cancer symposium for the public
  • Image and personal care during treatment
  • Mindfulness-based stress reduction course

  • Information on health and screening programs
  • Listing of local community resources such as hospitals, surgeons, oncologists, support groups, etc.
