New Parent Resource Center Has New Location and Name
Ventura California, 10/21/2009
As of October 2, 2009 Community Memorial Health System’s Breastfeeding Resource Center has moved to a new location and also has a new name: CMHS New Parent Resource Center.
The center, previously housed around the corner from Community Memorial Hospital, at 129 N. Joanne Ave., is now located at 2809 Main St.
Staffed by registered nurses who are certified lactation counselors, the New Parent Resource Center offers complimentary services to patients who delivered at CMH. Within this Center is Perinatal Education including all Childbirth and new parent classes, as well as Breastfeeding Supplies and Support, including a “Breastfeeding Boutique” which offers breast pump sales and rental along with sales of breastfeeding bras and other supplies. The Breastfeeding Support Group also continues in this new location and provides individual breastfeeding consultations.
“We are receiving great feedback from our new parents” states Sheila Dedrick, RN, CLC, Coordinator of Maternal Child Education. “The new, larger Center gives new parents the opportunity to acquire the education they are looking for before their baby is born, including an assortment of childbirth education courses in a familiar and nurturing place to ask questions, and also provide new parent resources after their birth with Breastfeeding Support Group and Baby & Me classes.”
