OVCH to Unveil New Emergency Department on Oct. 1
Ojai, California, 09/24/2009
Ojai Valley Community Hospital will unveil its new Emergency Department during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 1.
Festivities begin at 11:30 a.m., with the ribbon-cutting scheduled for noon. A light lunch will be served. Local dignitaries will speak including Gary Wilde, president and CEO of the Community Memorial Health System.
Soon after OVCH became a not-for-profit organization in 2000, the community was asked what improvements were most needed in the then 40-year-old hospital. The community gave top priority to a larger, more modern emergency room.
Community Memorial Health System shared the vision, and beginning with seed money from Ojai resident Chilant Sprague, the community raised nearly half the funds needed to build and equip the new state-of-the-art ER.
New ER features include:
- A new – and larger – location within the hospital;
- Six private treatment bays;
- Private consultation area;
- Appropriate clinical support space;
- New admitting and waiting area;
- New ambulance bay connected to the department;
- Latest technology and equipment.
