“The Hop” To Celebrate 50 Years for OVCH
Ojai, California, 02/20/2010
The Ojai Valley Community Hospital opened its doors to patients in 1960. The celebration of its 50th anniversary has inspired the Ojai Valley Community Hospital Foundation Guild to host a 1950's themed fundraiser. “The Hop” will be held May 15 from 6 to 10 PM at St. Thomas Aquinas Hall.
Chairman Brenda Farr and her committee are planning an evening filled with nostalgia including hamburgers, french fries, and shakes from Bob's Big Boy, a photo booth, and a D.J. who will be spinning requests and dedications. There will be a gymnasium atmosphere decorated with memorabilia and reminders from the 1950s. Hula hoop and jitterbug demonstrations are also in the works.
Opportunities for sponsorships are named for fifties hit-makers such as Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, and James Brown. Individual tickets are $75.00, and will go on sale in April.
The proceeds from the event will go towards continuing the refurbishment project of patient rooms and specific needs at the OVCH Continuing Care Center benefitting the hospital and community.
Brenda stated “We are excited to be able to celebrate the hospital’s 50th anniversary in fabulous 50’s style and anticipate a wonderful turnout and a fun filled evening for all.”
Information about sponsorship opportunities, as well as information about purchasing individual tickets, is available at the Guild office, 640-2317.
