New Equipment for Ojai Valley Community Hospital
Ojai, California, 02/22/2010
Last November at the 8th annual Ojai Valley Community Hospital Foundation Guild's Nightingale Ball, a “fund a need” auction was held to benefit the hospital. The auction raised over $20,000, providing for a new MRI vascular injection pump to be purchased for the hospital's Radiology Department.
Radiologist Dr. Daniel Sommer reports that the new injection pump is used daily, and is a welcome replacement for a twenty year old piece of equipment.
The pump injects contrast agents and saline solution into patients during radiological procedures. This enables physicians to quickly detect arterial blockage, illuminate single blood vessels, or gauge the health of a beating heart using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Dottie Combs, the 2009 Nightingale Ball Chairman said, “ Jim and I thank everyone involved for helping to take this step in bringing more state of the art medical care and equipment to the Valley.”
Altogether, $109,000 was raised at the 2009 Nightingale Ball. All profits were designated to enhance the imaging and radiology services at the Ojai Valley Community Hospital.
