Walk, Wheel or Run for your Life at the October Classic

Ojai California, 09/01/2010

On your marks, get set go!! On Saturday, October 2nd, runners, walkers, young and the ageless will assemble in front of Nordhoff High School for the 9th Annual Ojai Valley Community Hospital Foundation’s October Classic 5k/10k and FREE Kids’ Relay event. Now is the time to gather your friends, co-workers and club members to “Walk, Wheel or Run for your Life” and show your support for our community hospital and the residents of the Continuing Care Center.

Organizations, families, friends (3 or more participants) are encouraged to visit www.octoberclassic.com to register their team for this year’s Classic. Bragging rights will be awarded for teams that have, “most team spirit,” “most participants,” “best overall team time” and “most ‘Mileage Club’ donations.” Information on the ‘Mile Club’ is available at the foundation office (805) 640-2317. For the past several years, Judy Cochran, who has recently raised more than $10,000 for the up-coming Avon Breast Cancer Walk, has participated in the Classic with the “Curves Ladies” sporting their Team Curves T-shirts and say’s “it’s always a fun morning with supportive friends and a great way to give back to the community at the same time.” All proceeds from this year’s Classic will go to support the Hospital’s Continuing Care Center. In addition to team entries, there is also a $200 cash prize for individual 10K men’s and women’s overall winners and the FREE Kids relay for elementary school age children.
