CMH Offers Cancer Patients a Free Class on Tuesday, April 10 — “Using a Distress Questionnaire to Identify the Support You Need”
Ventura, California, 04/04//2012
Community Memorial Hospital’s Cancer Resource Center is offering a free class on April 10 for cancer patients and their families.
Jody Giacopuzzi, a licensed clinical social worker, will conduct the class that will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at CMH’s Cancer Resource Center.
Having a serious illness can impact many aspects of a person’s life and a certain amount of distress is normal when you have cancer. Sometimes it is hard to talk about distress in a way that helps your cancer care providers and loved ones understand how much distress you are experiencing and how it is affecting you.
In this discussion group you will be provided a “Distress Questionnaire”- a useful tool for describing your distress in a way that makes it easier to communicate your needs to others.
This questionnaire will help you develop a “problem list” of things that affect your distress level. Areas of concern include social, emotional spiritual and practical (financial, insurance, work, school, etc.).
The Cancer Resource Center is located at 2900 Loma Vista Road, Suite 105, in Ventura. For more information or to attend, call 805/652-5459.
Community Memorial Hospital is a member of Community Memorial Health System, a not-for-profit health system, which is comprised of Community Memorial Hospital, Ojai Valley Community Hospital, and 12 family-practice health centers entitled Centers for Family Health.
