CMHS to Hold Seminar on the Political Healthcare Debate on Oct. 26

Healthcare under the next President of the United States will be focus of a free Ethics in Healthcare event Community Memorial Health System is holding as part of its 2016 Speakers Series. The seminar is on Wednesday, Oct. 26, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Museum of Ventura County, 100 E. Main St.
Jim Hornstein, M.D., CMHS Bioethics Committee Chair, will moderate the latest Ethics in Healthcare event entitled, “Red, White & You: American Politics through a Healthcare Lens.”
The seminar will stress how the $3 trillion annual U.S. healthcare tab -- $9,500 per person – would be spent under a Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump administration. The future of President Obama’s Affordable Care Act, the cost of prescription drugs and the availability of pain medications and marijuana will be among the topics discussed.
The seminar will feature the following presenters:
- State Rep. Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara)
- Lee Wan, M.D. , Ventura County representative to the California Medical Association
- A Republic Party committee representative.
