Lung Cancer Screening Program at Community Memorial Hospital

Lung cancer kills more people in the United States than any other cancer. Earlier detection is associated with better treatment outcomes.

Since most people with early lung cancer have few or no symptoms, screening for those at high risk is especially critical.

Computerized Tomography (CT) Screening is
Recommended for Patients Who Meet the Following Criteria:

  • Age 55-74 years old.
  • Are currently a smoker or have quit within the past 15 years.
  • Have a history of at least 30 pack years of smoking.

Our Lung Cancer Screening Program Includes:

  • Low-dose chest CT
  • Lung nodule detection
  • Lung nodule registry
  • Lung cancer diagnosis

What is a Low-Dose CT Scan?
CT scan is an imaging procedure that uses computer-processed X-rays
to produce precise and detailed images of specific areas of the body.
A low-dose CT scan is used to minimize exposure to radiation.

Scheduling a Screening
If you think you meet the criteria, please call your primary care physician
or contact the CMH Cancer Resource Center at 805/652-5459.

Whether it’s our ancestors foraging for their next meal in the Serengeti or getting caught in traffic on the 405 trying to make a flight at LAX, stress is an inherent part of living. Dr. Bale will describe a model of stress that will provide an understanding of what it is, its etiology, its adaptive and mal-adaptive components. Understanding this model will enable participants to identify their own unique reactions and develop effective stress management strategies.

More than half of Americans are overweight, 12 million are severely obese (100 pounds or more overweight), leading to a higher incidence of diabetes, heart disease and stroke. Although historically diabetes has been considered a disease that cannot be stopped, recent studies find that weight loss surgery may reverse its effects. In this seminar Dr. Billy will discuss weight loss procedures available and the many benefits to losing weight, including relief from:

  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Weight-related high blood pressure
