Heels & Wheels Motorcycle Group Makes Generous Donation to CMHS Breast Center

Heels & Wheels motorcycle ride sponsored by the Ventura HOG Chapter Ladies of Harley.

Recently members of the “Heels & Wheels” motorcycle group presented a check of $7,000 to CMHS. The money they raised goes to The Breast Center at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura for mammograms, biopsies and surgical interventions for women who lack access, funds, or insurance for these lifesaving treatments.

Close to 200 mostly female motorcycle riders in pink took to the streets this past summer to support and raise funds for breast cancer awareness and screenings. Over the years, the group has raised

over $66,000 for Community Memorial Health System through participation fees and prize raffle tickets.

Participating in the presentation from “Heels & Wheels” was Donna Buchalter, Rebecca Baldwin, Lilian Chow Dwight, Barbara Car & Kathleen Pendergast. Representing CMHS was Patty Jimenez, Leslie Kenney, & Michael Ellingson.

Red, White & You!
AMERICAN POLITICS THROUGH A HEALTHCARE LENS

There simply is no escaping it; healthcare matters a lot to most Americans and to America. Join us for a lively, yet respectful, conversation of what the next President of the United States will do about healthcare reform, the cost of prescription drugs, access to reproductive services, availability of pain medications and marijuana, and the overall state of healthcare reform efforts. Health is a big issue, especially when we become sick, worried or vulnerable. All of us are going to help pay for a U.S. healthcare tab which costs $3 trillion annually ($9,500 per person).

Moderated By:
Jim Hornstein, M.D. – Chair, CMHS Bioethics Committee

Featured Speakers:
Hannah-Beth Jackson – California State Senator District 19

Lee Wan, M.D. – Past President of the Ventura County Medical Association

Republican Committee Representative
