Free Seminar – Hyperbaric Oxygen and Chronic Wound Care Advances

2017 Speaker Series

Living with chronic, non-healing wounds can be frustrating, debilitating and time-consuming. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a simple but effective treatment to aid the body in healing. This therapy quickly and safely delivers high concentrations of oxygen to the bloodstream, which helps increase the body’s own natural wound-healing abilities.

In this seminar, Dr. Tesman will explain how hyperbaric oxygen plays a role in caring for problem wounds and advances in treatment options to help improve your healing and your quality of life.

Innovative Imaging at Community Memorial Health System Enhances Early Breast Cancer Detection

Did you know there are more than 3.1 million breast cancer survivors in the United States today? While there are no proven strategies to prevent breast cancer entirely, enhanced screening technologies and early detection have played a significant role in the overall decrease in breast cancer mortality.  Routine screenings are an essential component of early detection, but are all imaging technologies the same?

Community Memorial Health System is dedicated to the idea that the best in screening and imaging technologies should be available to all women in our communities.  The Breast Center at CMHS was the first medical facility in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties to receive the “Breast Imaging Center of Excellence” designation from the American College of Radiology, and we continue to offer the most innovative mammography and diagnostic procedures available.

One of these cutting-edge imaging technologies is GE Healthcare’s SenoClaire 3D Breast Tomosynthesis, also known as DBT Mammography.  With traditional 2D imaging, the structures and tissues of the breast overlap.  This image clutter limits the detail radiologists are able to read and can conceal troublesome masses.  SenoClaire removes the clutter of these layers by using a low-dose X-ray sweep around the compressed breast.  This technique separates the breast tissues, reduces the overlapping of structures, and allows radiologists to more easily identify small abnormalities such as early cancers or suspicious legions.  Not only is this enhanced screening technology effective for every breast tissue type, it also uses the same low-dose radiation as traditional 2D digital mammography!

We’ve made this 3D Mammography video available for anyone who wants to learn more about this state-of-the-art technology and how it can play a role in the breast health strategy of you or your loved ones.  Not all imaging is the same, so be sure to ask your primary care physician about 3D Mammography or contact The Breast Center at Community Memorial Health System to schedule an appointment!
