Services & Amenities
Visitors
Your family and friends are welcome guests; however, please
limit visitors to no more than two at one time. Our general
visiting hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., every day. Visitation
times for ICU are subject to the discretion of the patient's
registered nurse and nursing supervisor. In consideration for
our other patients, please have your guests follow these visitor
guidelines.
Visitation by children is subject to the discretion of the patient's
registered nurse and nursing supervisor. Children in waiting
areas must be attended by an adult at all times.
Telephones
Your friends and family may call your room directly from 7:00
a.m. - 9:00 p.m. The number is 805/646-1401. Ask your nurse
for the extension number for your room and bed.
Telephones are next to your bed. To place a local call, dial
9 and the number.
Television
Each patient room is equipped with a color television.
Smoking Policy
In the cause of good health, and in conformance with our
mission of promoting wellness and preventive programs, OVCH
is a “smoke-free” facility. Smoking is not allowed by patients,
visitors, or staff anywhere inside the hospital, and is only allowed in designated areas on campus.
Food Services
Your physician may order your meals to be restricted before
surgery or procedures. In addition, your meals may be restricted
based on your physician's orders and your condition.
Guest Meals
If you would like a visitor to have a meal in your room, a guest
tray may be purchased in the Admitting department. Present
the receipt to the unit secretary on your floor by 10:00 a.m.
for lunch and by 3:00 p.m. for dinner. Visitors are welcome to
purchase meals in our cafeteria, open from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30
p.m.
Gift Shop
The Auxiliary Gift Shop is open Monday through Friday
8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Flowers, Mail, Newspapers
Mail and flowers will be delivered to your room. Please note
that flowers are not permitted inside the ICU. Newspapers are
available at a newsstand outside the front street entrance. You
may call the Auxiliary desk at ext. 224 if you would like a paper
purchased for you.
Lost and Found
The Auxiliary maintains a “Lost
and Found” for patients' belongings which may have been
misplaced.
Clergy Services
Ojai Valley Community Hospital is nonsectarian and welcomes
the clergy of all faiths. Clergy representing most denominations
make regular visits to the hospital.
No Legal Services Available
The hospital does not provide a notary service, and employees
may not witness the preparation of legal documents other than
hospital consent forms. If you are in need of this service, please
make arrangements through friends or family.
Other Needs
Please let us know of any special needs or wishes you may
have, so that we can assist you. If you have any questions or
problems, please ask to speak with the Charge Nurse for your
unit. If your Charge RN is not available, there is a Nursing
Supervisor on duty at all times.
Interpreters and/or telecommunication devices are available
to assist physicians, nurses and other staff in communicating
effectively with our patients and families who are limited in
speaking English or are hearing impaired.
For the hearing impaired, we offer the TDD communication
device.
In addition to qualified interpreters who may be on duty in the
hospital, we also offer Language Line Services, which provides
150 languages, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
