Chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects thirty-one million adults, and millions of others
are at increased risk. Dr. Aron Swerdlin will discuss:

  • The causes of CKD
  • Those who are at greatest risk
  • How CKD is diagnosed
  • Complications associated with CKD
  • Forms of therapy available to reverse or retard the progression of this disorder

About the Presenter
Dr. Swerdlin is a practicing Nephrologist with Vista Del Mar Medical Group. He received his medical degree from the New Jersey College of Medicine in Newark. Upon completing his internal medicine residency at Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia, he did subspecialty training in nephrology at Barnes Hospital, Washington University, St. Louis, MO. Dr. Swerdlin is board certified in nephrology and internal medicine, a fellow of the American College of Physicians and listed in Who’s Who in California. He is an active member of the medical staff of Community Memorial Hospital.

20.8 million People in the United States have diabetes. Yet nearly one-third of those people are unaware that they have this serious and chronic disease. If the condition is left untreated, it can cause very serious complications, including heart and vascular disease, and kidney, eye and nerve damage. Many people may not have symptoms, so early detection is important to diagnose the condition and prevent harmful complications. The key is proper education and awareness of what to do to reduce your risks.

A Diabetes Health Fair will take place in the Nichols Auditorium at Community Memorial Hospital and will include screenings, expert speakers, information booths, giveaways, refreshments, information on diabetes and ask a Nurse, Pharmacist, and Registered Dietitian tables. In addition you will receive information on Pre-Diabetes, Diabetes Prevention, the ABCs of diabetes and how positive lifestyle choices and daily diabetes self-care will reduce your risk of developing diabetes and diabetes complications. Space is limited and registration is required.
