Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of significant vision loss in older Americans. It has been reported that 30% of individuals aged 75 and older have some form of AMD. Nearly 2 million Americans are affected with the advanced form of the disease, with an estimated 8 million Americans at risk for developing advanced AMD in the next 5 years. AMD affects fine central vision, and can limit the ability to drive, read, and perform routine activities. To help educate the community about AMD, Dr. McCarty will review:

  • Causes and Lifestyle Strategies to Minimize Risk
  • Symptoms and Detection
  • Current AMD Treatment
  • New Research
  • Methods for Coping with AMD
