The American Lung Association Better Breathers Clubs are welcoming support groups for patients and caregivers affected by chronic lung diseases including COPD, pulmonary fibrosis and lung cancer. Learn better ways to better cope with lung disease while getting the support of others in similar situations.
Cost: No charge – Open to community members
Caregivers Support Group
This group is co-sponsored by Community Memorial Hospital and Coast Caregiver Resource Center and open to all caregivers. The purpose of the group is to enable persons who are facing the difficult task of continuing caregiving to benefit from the interaction and support of others in a similar situation.
Dietary consults by a CMH registered dietician for patients with cancer.
Come and de-stress with Guided Meditation.

Ostomy Support Group (In-person)
For Patients with Colostomies, Ileostomies, Urostomies or Continent Diversions.

Breathing Easy is a six week program, two days per week, for approximately 2 hours per day. Subjects covered are anatomy and physiology, bronchial hygiene, medications, breathing retraining, nutritional counseling, stress reduction, relaxation, panic control techniques, oxygen therapy, signs and symptoms of lung disorders, and various other topics. In conjunction with the lecture, patients will be monitored in an exercise and pacing program individually designed for each patient on specialized equipment.
