Your friends and family may call your room from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The number is 805/646-1401. Ask your nurse for the extension number for your room and bed. Telephones are next to your bed. To place a local call, dial 9 and the number.


Each patient room is equipped with a color television.

Smoke-Free Campus

Ojai Valley Community Hospital became a smoke-free campus on January 1, 2013. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on campus, including sidewalks, parking structures and inside vehicles whether parked or driving through campus. This is part of ongoing efforts to ensure a healthy environment for our patients, visitors and employees. Patients who smoke should discuss how to manage withdrawal symptoms and/or quit smoking with their physician. Family members and visitors who would like to quit smoking will find smoking cessation resources here ▶

Food Services

Your doctor will order the best diet suited to meet your specific needs. Since the right foods are important to your recovery, menu items and quantities may need to be adjusted to accommodate the diet your physician prescribes. Also certain tests or medical procedures may require your meals to be delayed or cancelled.

Guest Meals

If you would like a visitor to have a meal in your room, a guest tray may be purchased at the Reception Desk Admitting department. Present the receipt to the unit secretary or nurse on your floor by 8:00 a.m. for breakfast, 10:00 a.m. for lunch and by 3:00 p.m. for dinner. Visitors are welcome to purchase meals in our cafeteria, open from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Gift Shop

The Auxiliary Gift Shop is open:

Monday – Friday
8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Flowers, Mail, Newspapers

Mail and flowers will be delivered to your room. Please note that flowers and plants are not permitted inside the ICU. Newspapers are available at a newsstand outside the front street entrance. You may call the Auxiliary desk at ext. 2224 if you would like a paper purchased for you.

Lost and Found

The Auxiliary maintains a “Lost and Found” for patients’ belongings which may have been misplaced.

Clergy Services

Ojai Valley Community Hospital is nonsectarian and welcomes the clergy of all faiths. Clergy representing most denominations make regular visits to the hospital.

No Legal Services Available

The hospital does not provide a notary service, and employees may not witness the preparation of legal documents other than hospital consent forms. If you are in need of this service, please make arrangements through friends or family.

Other Needs

Please let us know of any special needs or wishes you may have, so that we can assist you. If you have any questions or problems, please ask to speak with the Charge Nurse for your unit. If your Charge RN is not available, there is a Nursing Supervisor on duty at all times.
